 01   What happens next if I decide to use your services?

I will send you a simple coaching contract and agreement for you to look over and sign.


NOTE: If you are a young person and your parents are paying for the coaching sessions then the coaching contract will have to be reviewed and signed by them. The coaching agreement will be signed by you as this focuses on the coaching process, your commitment to it and my commitment to you. 


I will then send an initial questionnaire for you to fill out before our first meeting so that I can start to get to know you.


It’s okay if you don’t have all the answers, just answer as much as you can, so I can read it before our first session and have a basic understanding of who you are, what you want, and where you want to go.


Most coaching sessions last for 60 minutes. There is the option to have shorter sessions if concentration is an issue, remember coaching will always try to be set up in a way that supports your learning needs. During the session, we will talk about what has happened since the last time we met, and set goals for the upcoming period of time until we meet again.

 02   Is coaching just really counselling?

No, coaching is not a therapy or counselling. It is also not structured teaching nor is it getting someone else to solve your problems. In a coaching relationship the client and coach become a team, focusing on the client's goals and needs in order to accomplish more than the client would have been able to achieve alone and is action oriented. Counselling and psychotherapy, on the other hand are a branch of medicine that deal with deeply rooted mental, emotional, or behavioural disorders to greater or lesser degrees.


The areas do overlap slightly though because both aim to help the client to make concrete positive changes in their life, which could include reaching their potential, promoting their self-development growth, improving their efficiency and productivity at work, overcoming inhibitions and resolving symptoms using a variety of suitable theories on human behaviour. 


 03   Do you work by any professional standards?

I am a Chartered Member of Institute of Personnel Development (MCIPD), a registered member of the Career Development Institute (RCDI) and am committed to and abide by both the CIPD’s Code of Professional Conduct which can be found at: and the CDI’s Code of Ethical Ethics which can be found at:, in all aspects of my work with clients.



 04   How do you keep your skills up to date?

I receive good practice/latest information updates from both my CIPD and RCDI memberships and attend career coaching training and webinars on a yearly basis, which are usually run by the Career Development Institute (CDI). I network with other professionals in my field and keep abreast with latest recruitment practices, diversity and inclusion issues from the CIPD, recruitment agencies and on-line news.

Where appropriate, I also attend other courses and conferences on Disability, Special Learning Needs and Neurodivergence.



 05   What if coaching is not for me/for my son/daughter and we've signed up to your starter package?

If a client finds that coaching is not working for them, the sessions may be ended by joint agreement and any unused sessions refunded. 

The ground rules for the coaching relationship (including refunds) is set out in the Coaching Contract which will have been agreed and signed on before the coaching starts so that both parties know their obligations. It is a simple agreement giving both parties peace of mind and protection.

 06   My son/daughter is really shy about meeting new people and I'm worried about how they might cope.

I have coached many young people (& adults) who are nervous about this, however if they are to successfully get and hold down a job this is a fear they need to overcome and coaching is a really safe way to do this.


If necessary and the young person would prefer it, the parent/carer could be present at the beginning of the first meeting or until they feel comfortable - I find usually this happens quite quickly.


Sometimes parents are nervous too so a joint first session can give everyone peace of mind that coaching sessions with me will be ok.

 07   How often will I have coaching? 

The frequency of the coaching sessions can vary according to your needs and the timescales you are working too. It’s most common to have one session each week and I would recommend this for the start of the coaching relationship. However this could be changed to a couple of sessions per month if you are progressing well towards your goals. I offer support between sessions, such as quick texts or emails.

 08   Can you find me a job/apprenticeship/internship/traineeship?

I have a strong active network and I am happy to use it and advocate for my clients. Whilst I cannot 100% guarantee that I will always find a perfect position, I know that I will be able to move you much closer to your goal.

It could be that I can help set up some work experiences for you or can speak to companies or Colleges on your behalf to see if they might be able to offer traineeships/ apprenticeships or internships etc.

My goal is to give you the right tools and support to feel empowered and confident enough to be able to find or make opportunities for yourself. However, where necessary I will be there to help guide you through situations that you may need a bit more support or direction with.
